The first round of campers arrived mid-afternoon Friday, June 21st, at Davis Creek Campsite, in Bourbonnais, IL. They’d been calling for rain all weekend for the whole week prior to FD19, but nothing was going to dampen these campers dispositions. After all, it was Field Day! Cars arrived, tents went up, camaraderie domineered.
Saturday, which was originally going to be a washout of a day, was great! Someone was looking out for us, as the skies parted, gave us sun, and decent weather. We had more campers show up. After a safety meeting by the Creature of the Woods (see pictures), antennas and crews were busy setting things just right. Seems like everyone that wished to operate, did so. Some stations were taken down early due to impending storms Sunday morning.
As always, food was plenty and delicious. Our many and continued thanks to Patty Hill, our Chef-du-Field Day.
Special thanks go to April Bayne for her special cobbler. It’s a joy had by all.
This year, we had some visitors out to the campsite that we hadn’t seen in quite awhile. It was great fun seeing Billie (ADS), Rich (NTX), and Carl (BTX). A great big thank you to all of our visitors! It was a grand time.
Now we look forward to Winter Field Day 2020 - hope to see you there!!
