Attention all stations, attention all stations. My name is ___________, and my call sign is _____________. I will be your acting net control station for the evening, and I am now opening this session of the 220 Nameless Net.
This net is held every Thursday at 9:30 pm local time. This is an informal round table net that has an open discussion style format. All properly licensed amateur radio operators are invited to participate, and you do not need to be a member of the 220 MHz Club. We would like to thank the 220 Good Guys for supporting this net.
This net is dedicated to the silent keys of the 220 MHz Guys, and they are in order: WB9WIP - George, KA9KBU - Joe, WV9MJS - Mitch, KD9CCG - David, N9JYX - Bob, KD9ERC – Tyrone, N9HSH – Jim, KB9THM – Jim, KC9ESY - Kathy, KB9KRT – Patrick, KC9MJL - Cheryl, KA9GQE - Bob, KD9FRI – Mike, and KC9LRZ – Wanda.
As I get ready to invite all stations to check-in, please note that although there is no scheduled pause during this net for emergency traffic, the net will give the air to any breaking emergency.
At this time, I would like to invite all short-time users to check in. Please call now.
At this time, I would like to invite all stations to check-in. Please call now.
(( I often greet each participating station and ask them “If they have gotten outside today” and “How are you doing this evening?”. I think these are the two most important questions we ask the participating stations. This addition was started during the 2020/21 covid pandemic. ))
Housekeeping
The output frequency of the WM9W repeater is 224.520 MHz. The repeater requires a negative 1600 KHz transmit offset and a 110.9 Hz CTCSS tone (also called a PL tone). We do have an affiliate repeater on 224.300 MHz with the same offset and PL tone.
Tonight’s agenda is as follows: check-ins; a little chit chat; some additional check-ins; and some additional round tabling. We will also likely have our “10% chance of trivia” mixed in, and finally we’ll end with our infamous 73 round.
With that out of the way… let's see if we have any additional check-ins.
All stations wishing to check in. Please call now.
At this time, I would like to ask if any of our participating stations are net controllers either on this repeater or other on other stations. We would like to know how that’s going and what might be happening on the airways. We will pause a little longer than normal during this check-in round to allow echo link users a chance to reach the repeater.
Please Call Now.
** ((Announce the repeaters every 10 min))***
** This [Your Call Sign] and we are on the WM9W repeater with a frequency of 224.520 and a negative offset of 1600 KHz PL. Don’t forget to turn on the PL Tone set to 110.9 Hz.***
ANNOUNCEMENTS: (On behalf of the 220 Good Guys)
The Good Guys & Gals Saturday Morning Meet & Greet Breakfast
We meet at P. J. Klem's Restaurant located at 8000 W. Ogden Avenue in Lyons, IL. Breakfast and VE test sessions are held the first Saturday of the month, starting roughly at 9:00 AM (and can go into lunchtime and beyond). You do not need to be a member to join us - everyone is welcome. If you are testing with us, all you need are the correct number of answers and a photo ID. No fee is required by the club because we’re using Laurel testing. If you are upgrading your license, you need to submit a copy of your current amateur radio license to the VE team.
The 220 Good Guys and Gals nets:
The Original Preservation net is at 9 pm Saturdays, featuring our own Hap Holly, with either the best of classic RAIN, or from the archives.
The “On 220” net is held on the 220 at 2:20 pm, which of course happens on Sundays.
The Nightcrawlers net every night, starting “sometime” around midnight – The First Net of the Day. [Mention that we also run a Newsline on Tuesdays, and a RAIN report from the archives every Thursday on the Nightcrawlers Net.] This is one of AC9WM's favorite nets, and we do emphasize “sometime around midnight”, as we shouldn’t start harassing the net controller until.. roughly.. three minutes past midnight. Monday’s Nightcrawlers Net is now starting at 11pm.
We would also like to mention the 200 MHz Good Guys and Gals General Club Meeting, on the Saturday following the 2nd Thursday of the month, usually held at Zion Lutheran Church, 7930 West Ogden Avenue in Lyons, after our Saturday Meet & Greet breakfast. You can always refer to the website for the correct date, time and location for all meetings.
The Club Website is www.wm9w.org. They have a great website, check it out. There are some fun pictures as well as a lot of other information. The Club E-Mail is: membership@wm9w.org.
Now that we have completed the Housekeeping announcements for the evening, do we have anyone else looking to check-in? (Pause for Echolink) Please call now.
Swap and Shop. - Anyone looking to buy, sell, trade, or give anything away, or perhaps if you are looking for that rare specialty item, after all, the next holiday is just around the corner. (Note: Controllers must read this disclaimer on the air! -> “The 220 MHz Guys Amateur Radio Club, or the Net Controller, are not responsible for any transactions that take place; Period! There is to be no discussion or haggling of prices over the Repeater!”)
THE LAST ITEM ON THE AGENDA IS: “Our Infamous 73 Round”.
THAT COMPLETES TONIGHT’S AGENDA, IT MAY BE TIME TO CLOSE THE NET.
Is there any other traffic, questions or comments for the net or the net controller at this time?
((( Once that traffic has been handled. Continue with the closing of the net. )))
I am now closing today's session of the 220 Nameless Net. The next net will meet right here, later today, at the stroke of midnight, local time. I would like to thank everyone who has checked-in. [list stations]
Without stations like you, this net would not exist. Thank you for participating.
This is [Your NAME and CALL SIGN] saying 73 to all and have a wonderful rest of your day. The repeater will now be returned to general use. [Your CALL SIGN] clear and listening.
