This year’s Field Day was fun with a bunch of campers and visiting attendees. While one might look at the pictures and see a wet scenario, underneath it all, there were a lot of ticked off people wishing it wasn’t raining. But at least this year we were without tornadoes. (Phew!)
We do have a beautiful area at Davis Creek campground, Kankakee River State Park. People tried to take the wet morning in stride, either by sitting around under cover, or venturing out towards the river and nature. In fact, some may even say that nature may reset your own personal nature.
We did have some very impressive radio set ups this year, and a great show of solar power.
You will see our fluffy, Field Day mascots, Fuji Tesla (our radio mascot) and Noaa Coleman (our weather mascot) in some pictures.
One new convenience added this year, was a special “blue tent”. I think when you get to those pictures you will understand what that’s all about.
When all was said and done, a great time was had by all.
The last two pictures pretty much say it all for the end of the weekend. 1. hysterical delirium, and 2. what sleep?
Many thanks to all who participated, camped, visited, provided food, extra shelter, and power.
A special thank you to Dick Lieber WA9NNN for assisting with logging and getting us our final report from the ARRL.
Another special thank you to Kelvin Jackson W9BBQ for being our camp liaison, and always making sure we’re set for camp and Field Day.
